This page has been created to assist Granliden owners in applying for a permit to make an exterior alteration.
All exterior work on Granliden Townhouses requires a permit. The permit process has been developed to ensure that exterior work that requires a vote of the association is identified.
Most of the exterior work on the townhouses is maintenance or repair related. An application for permit is still required so that this determination can be made by the General Manager or the Board of Directors. In the case that a repair is being made, we will make sure that the exterior of the unit will not be altered. For instance if a window needs to be replaced because it is rotten, we need to know the size of the existing window, and the new replacement window. In most cases the sizes will be identical. In some instances, an identical window may no longer be available. In these cases, we will make sure that the window being requested is the closest to the original that is available.
Permits must also be applied for in cases where a unit owner plans to alter the unit in a manner consistent with a previous BLANKET approval. In these cases, we must have the specifications to determine that the planed alteration, and the approved alteration are the same. Remember, there have only been a few blanket approvals at Granliden, and most of them are for specific areas.
Please remember we need complete information on the permit application, this means that we must have lot lines if the alteration effects the footprint of the existing structure in any way. We must have an accurate drawing of the existing structure, and the planned alteration. The drawing should be at a minimum scale of 1/8 inch, must show the dimensions of doors and windows if affected, and where the doors and windows are placed. The application must also include a description of materials and colors.
These procedures have been established to preserve the common enjoyment of the property and to preserve and enhance the value and asthetics of the Granliden On Sunapee community!
